Prayer and Fasting

Date:

  • Friday, March 30th at 7:00 p.m.

Purpose – To Pray:

  • To let the oppressed go free – both physically and spiritually. (Isaiah 58:6)
  • For revival and soul winning.
  • For those enslaved by sin.
  • To be used by God to bring people out of bondage into His glorious freedom.
  • To make us the most effective we can possibly be as a church – that God would lead, protect and bless our church and our families (every generation) in the coming year. “Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions.” (Ezra 8:21)

Explanation of a Partial Fast:

  • Lay aside certain foods for that day.
  • A partial fast – a “no pleasant food” fast. Lay aside some things that you like (i.e., sweets, sodas, caffeine, bread) and unnecessary things that just entertain the flesh (TV, radio, movies, newspapers, novels, hobbies).
  • The main thing is to be led by the Spirit – not your flesh! He may even lead you to set aside entire meals. Whatever you are led to do, He will give you the grace to do it. Replace these things with a focus on spiritual things. (Colossians 3:2)
